Digital Signal Processing
Theory, Algorithms and Architectures
This 4 day course provides attendees with a solid and intuitive understanding of the essential DSP tools such as digital filters, FFTs, correlators, adaptive systems and multirate systems. Given these fundamentals, we show how the underlying theory, algorithms and practical knowledge can be applied across a range of DSP applications including QAM/QPSK digital communications, time-frequency signal analysis, adaptive data equalisation, acoustic echo cancellers, multirate systems and sigma delta coding.
Content
- Signal Processing Review
- The Generic DSP System
- Frequency Domain Analysis
- Digital Filtering
- DSP Audio/ Baseband Processing
- Adaptive DSP Algorithms
- Computationally Efficient DSP Systems
- DSP for Digital Communications
- DSP for Mobile and Wireless
- DSP Enabled Radio Architectures
Audience
The course is suitable for all engineering, marketing and technical management staff. By delivering a sound grounding in DSP theory and practice, participants will leave with the knowledge required to apply DSP solutions to problems within their given domains. Previous attendees have come from a wide range of industries and backgrounds such as professional audio and acoustics, digital communications, ASIC and analog electronics, and even mechanical engineering. This diversity also leads to a learning environment which helps strengthen each attendee’s understanding of the fundamentals through interaction and cross-fertilization of ideas and applications.
Event Aim
To educate participants in the theory, algorithms, implementation and application of modern Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques.
Presentation
DSP is often seen as an esoteric and very mathematical subject. In this course, the necessary mathematical theory is presented on a “need to know basis” and in an intuitive style using both simulations and DSP demonstrations. This presentation style and ethos has been presented with considerable success to many companies, both small and large, in both Europe and the USA.
The course format is: 50% Lectures | 40% DSP software hands-on simulation | 10% Tutorial Discussion
Laboratory Sessions: Professional DSP design software will be used for the laboratory sessions. This advanced software provides a comprehensive and state of the art DSP toolbox for modern signal processing.
Pre-requisites
This course has been carefully designed to present the complex mathematical theory often associated with DSP in an intuitive and straightforward style to a wide audience of scientists, engineers, project managers and even marketing staff. The following prior experience is useful but not essential: Electrical engineering principles and Bachelor level mathematics.
